The primary goal of the Dalit Vikas Abhiyan Samiti (DVAS) is to develop families from marginalized communities into entrepreneurs for economic empowerment and self-reliance. DVAS is committed to empowering marginalized communities, including Dalits, tribals, women, and youth, by providing them with the necessary skills and opportunities to achieve self-reliance. The organization's primary objective is to break the vicious cycle of poverty that affects these groups.
DVAS adopts a multifaceted approach, which includes connecting individuals with self-employment opportunities, promoting sustainable agricultural practices, and facilitating access to government livelihood programs. By empowering individuals through skill development, entrepreneurship training, and sustainable agricultural practices, the committee actively works to break the cycle of poverty. This effort not only promotes individual growth but also contributes to broader social change.
DVAS supports the participation of marginalized women through skill development, vocational training, and entrepreneurship programs. Our aim is to create opportunities that lead to economic stability and self-reliance.
DVAS also focuses on promoting sustainable agricultural practices to ensure food security and stable livelihoods. In collaboration with Pusa Agricultural University, the organization connects community members with group-based millet farming and organic vegetable cultivation. The initiative of 100 Ambedkar Gram Committee cadres for kitchen gardens and vegetable cultivation has positively impacted the nutritional and economic status of their families.
DVAS has benefited around 6,500 individuals, especially adolescent girls and youth, through various skill training programs such as sewing, embroidery, and Madhubani painting. After receiving sewing training, women have successfully opened clothing stores in their villages and empowered others by linking with markets such as India Mart and GEM Portal. In the urban poor homeless area, 200 families have been economically empowered by opening small shops, significantly improving their financial stability. DVAS provides regular livelihood training to ensure ongoing progress.
